What if, you woke up in the middle of a ground zero, didn’t remember a thing, and all you know is the city you live in is falling apart right in front of you? Thats not the worst part, what if you got electrocuted... but didn’t die? Instead you only felt stronger, and with in 4 days of your city being torn apart and run by drug lords in a quarantine? You figure its time you get to work, and show people that with your new powers, you are the one that really runs this town.
Released internationally between May and June of 2009 by Sucker Punch productions and Sony Computer Entertainment, exclusively for the Playstation 3, Infamous (original title style: inFAMOUS) is rated T for Teen.
The storyline follows a man named Cole, a regular bike messenger, who wakes up burnt and in pain within a giant crater. He is spotted by a chopper flying above and begins to work his way toward the bridge that will take him to the Neon district of Empire city (the primary location of the game). As he runs through a falling apart car parking garage, his best friend Zeke calls him and explains that the government believes it was a terrorist attack. As the call ends however, Cole is electrocuted by an open electric wire, however, it doesn’t kill him. Instead, he becomes stronger and begins to gain more control over himself. After 4 days of Empire city being locked down, Cole realizes that he has serious power and thats when he decides that he has to get out of the area due to a man called the TV Jacker ruining his reputation by accusing him of the troubles within the city. He is then found by a women named Moya who says she can clear his name if he helps her find the source of the explosions, called the Ray Sphere.
Throughout different areas of Empire City, you run into quite a lot of different enemies that consist of different styles making it unpredictable what you’ll run into next. Even down on easy the enemies sometimes seem just a little over powered, but that could mean you need to find objects called Blast Shards in order to gain more health. I know from personal experience, the hardest difficulty is a pain right off the hop cause everything is OP.
Considering I had taken a hiatus from this game for many months, I can’t give too much of an accurate time of completion, plus I was searching for collectables and trophies instead of actually playing. If I were to ball park it, I’d say it would take around two and a half to three days to complete. (60-72 hours) to finish the game AND collect all the in game items. Including side missions as well.
As for replaying this game, there is actually reason to replaying it. Within the game, different events occur that bring up your Karma Meter. You have a choice to act as a hero, wanting to save the people of Empire City, or a villain, bent on revenge and control. Ultimately, your karma changes that games events, and ending. So if you of through as a good guy the first time around, when you play again, you can let those evil wishes you held inside run wild through the city.
With a very wide spread of voices, this game is voiced very well and set with dialog that matches to the current situations making this aspect of the game, just another point under its belt.
This game controls fairly easily in my opinion. Well, except for the camera angles. If I’m running up a building, pretty sure I need to see where I am going instead of the bottom of my foot. It is a very smooth game, with all the aspects involved such as mega jumps that have to load the map, and things like that. The game doesn't lag from my experience with it so theres no worry for how smooth the game is, my only concern is the camera thinking its smarter then it should be.
With the exception of a few funny rag doll deaths of random enemies, the game doesn’t have too many glitches. One glitch I have encountered was falling under the map and just landing back inside the map like nothing happened. Nothing huge just the little slips here and there. Any glitch you could run into would probably make you laugh at the stupidity of it much like I did.
All together this game, being one of the highest selling PlayStation series starter, it is an entertaining and well made game that has a very good replay value and will keep you in control of your good and evil, in the one and only inFamous!
